When I first learned about the occupation at City Hall called Abolition Park, I knew I had to head down there to witness the moment as soon as possible; I remember visiting Occupy Wall Street in Zuccotti Park over a decade ago, so I knew how both momentous and short-lived events like this could be.
And walking around, I noticed a portrait of George Floyd propped up dead-center in the middle the occupation while someone scribbled in chalk below. It felt fitting to capture that scene, considering George Floyd was the catalyst for this movement.
