This photo is of a Black Lives Matter march in Brooklyn. The subject is a little girl marching with a sign. It was taken during the summer of 2020 when the Black Lives Matter movement was at its crescendo around the country and the world.

This particular march focused on [the] Black children, so parents and guardians brought their children, and events were children themed.

I took this photo because it captures something that I hadn't quite seen or seen for the first time: children marching and protesting with the same intensity and vigor as adults were. And it sorta speaks to the notion that they understand - they understood and they understand what is going on. And they have the same strong, intense response and reaction to it.
