Hello. My name is Kris Julien, and I'm a Brooklyn-based street and concert photographer.

This photo was taken on June 13th, 2020 at the Black Excellence Walk in Brooklyn, New York which started at Grand Army Plaza Library.

I was able to capture this image as protesters marched from Flatbush, across the Brooklyn Bridge to One Police Plaza. It was the second protest I went to at the time, and the largest one I've attended since. I'm not sure of the exact numbers, but it was reported that at least over 10,000 people took to the streets this day to let their voices be heard. Allies of all races came out in unity with us. 

It was bittersweet and was truly a rollercoaster of emotions. We cried, sang, we danced and wailed for all the Black lives lost and families torn apart due to police brutality and systemic racism. Most importantly, to let the world know that Black lives matter.
