Towards the middle of the summer, the images that were coming out from the protests were being galvanized into two camps, and what was being portrayed in the media was an over-centralization of images of violence. And that was not the experience that me and my partners had while we were marching.

And so, I really charged myself that, during these marches, was to try to get as many images of peace and tranquility - of family, of love, of joy - which, for me, I thought was very important. And that, oftentimes, made my eye drawn towards the children (because very often families brought their children to these marches).

And so, what ended up happening was - as were were watching - I noticed this little girl sitting on the back of her father, and she had fallen asleep. And I lucked out, as the man in front of me had raised his fist, and I managed to capture the girl framed by the fist. 

And I thought it was a wonderful reflection of what it felt like during these marches for Black lives. It was always a feeling of family and community, and I hope that this image helps portray that.
