Hi, I'm Amanda Addison, an NYC based photographer.

The photo I submitted in the first Capture the Movement photo exhibit in October 2020 is a photo of Derrick Hodge, an American music producer, composer and music director. The photo was taken during the March on Washington on August 28, 2020.

Derrick Hodge and musician Robert Glasper were performing, and during their performance I realized you could see so much emotion and soul in Derrick's face despite him wearing a mask, and I really wanted to capture that.

During the editing process, I decided to edit in both black & white and color: the black and white serves to depict the subjects emotion given the weight of 2020 and the years of racial injustice we've endured as Black people in this country, and the color edit is to depict real life and hope for the future.
